VACATION BIBLE CLUB – Every Wednesday night in July

Vacation Bible Club occurs in July on Wednesday evenings.  Each year we use a different theme to teach children in ways that are fun and interactive.  These programs are planned for a range of age groups.  All the studies are created with the goal of keeping kids engaged and desiring to learn about Christ.  All children in the community are welcome.

Last year we invited your kids to enter the International Spy Academy and become Agents for the One True God™.  The mission was to equip Agents-in-Training to know, live for, and love God.

We will always accept volunteers for set up, decoration, clean up, and other tasks.  There is no registration fee, but we do ask that you register your children before July 2nd.  For parents who want to stay we have a Bible study for adults planned.

SING-A-LONG – December 5, 2015

Every year in early December we invite the community to our Christmas Sing-A-Long.  We sing a cappella (without musical instrument) and it is truly inspiring to hear Christmas carols in a classic four part harmony.  We invite everyone to come and enjoy a program that changes every year.  We may have clips from popular Christmas movies or skits performed by members of the church.  What doesn’t change is that we always have singing; and in this the audience is very important, because it is the audience that makes the singing amazing.

Following the program we host a cookie social.  Everyone is invite to come down to our fellowship hall and enjoy coffee, tea and lots of cookies provided by our members.  We love this opportunity to reach out to the community and will never charge an entrance fee.

SOFTBALL

We are pleased that our second season (2014) of softball is off to a great start.  There is ample time for socializing and meeting new people while we cheer our team.  We are playing in the church league so we know that the games will be one hundred percent family friendly.

This year all league games are at Bryant Park in Albany on Monday nights.  For specific times click on the News tab and choose Events.

LIFE GROUPS – October – June

Each year – following the school year schedule – we meet in small groups to learn more about living the life we are called to by God, Jesus, and the Bible.  These groups are open to everyone.  We have many wonderful leaders who are focused on leading in depth, truth-filled lessons to produce a deeper understanding of the Bible and a stronger faith in God.  There is ample time for discussion to truly bring an understanding of the lesson and application of the message.  Each Bible study includes a prayer time, to pray for current needs of those in the group; and a fellowship time which helps us to build sustaining relationships and stronger bonds as a church.

There can be as many as 8 to 10 groups in a year.  Study styles range from traditional Bible study with only a Bible to using DVD’s to help understand the Word.  Some Life Groups have a non-traditional focus and involve singing with those in attendance at the Caring Place or taking communion to our members who cannot make it to church every day.  Life Groups typically meet on Wednesdays, however there are often studies other days of the week.  Contact the church office (541-758-4456) if you are interested in attending any of our Life Groups.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Every year we work together to collect shoe boxes, toys, games, and other small trinkets for Operation Christmas Child.  Operation Christmas Child is organized by Samaritan’s Purse (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child).  Our youth group works together to package and wrap the boxes, then ship them off to be given to children around the world.

After the boxes are packed and shipped the local ministry partners distribute the shoeboxes to children in their communities. In many places, a discipleship program called The Greatest Journey is offered to children after they receive their shoe box gifts. Through the program, Samaritan’s Purse’ local ministry partners are able to establish long-term, caring relationships with children and families by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE  Love INC

Love INC spearheads a school supply drive to help teachers in our community.  We fully believe that God wants us to care for the children in our community.    Every August we collect school supplies to be given to Love INC and distributed to the teachers in our community.
