THE MAIN THING: Jesus prioritized “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind; and “Love your neighbor as yourself” as the greatest commandments. In addition, he offered the great commission, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” We value those words of Jesus as central to our purpose and values. The values cited below combine to support and result in Jesus’ purposes for the church being pursued. (Matt. 22:37-39, Matt. 28:19-20)
EVERY MEMBER ON MISSION EVERY MOMENT: Each member of the church has the ability to pursue God’s mission in some way. Each moment of the day, in all facets of life, each member looks for opportunities to be an ambassador for Christ and makes the most of those opportunities. Church leaders are a gift from Christ to the church with the charge to prepare God’s people for works of service. The end result of each member doing his/her work is a church that is being built up and growing. (Eph. 4:11-16)
FELLOWSHIP: We are a congregation that prizes a relational/family feeling. We intend to value all members of the congregation and live out “one another” Christianity. Our intent is to love one another as Jesus has loved us. (Jn. 13:34-35)
EVANGELISM: We are confident that Jesus desires that each disciple bear much fruit. We want the family feeling that characterizes our fellowship to flow out and include non-Christians. As they are woven into the web of relationships, we expect ourselves to present the gospel to them and call them to a relationship with God. (Jn. 15:5)
WORSHIP: We seek an assembly together that brings us into the presence of the life-changing God, builds the body, and displays our unity. From that foundation: we spur one another on, encourage one another and exist as a living sacrifice every moment of the week. (Jn. 4:23-24, I Cor. 14:26, Heb. 10:24-25)
SERVICE: We intend to do good to all people, especially members of this congregation. We expect to imitate Jesus who took the role of a slave to others by washing feet, and went around doing good. (Jn. 13:12-17, Acts 10:38, Gal. 6:10)
DISCIPLESHIP: We want every member of the congregation to know the Bible well, and to live out the truth. We expect members to not only grow in the amount of Christian information that they carry, but to be obedient to that word and transformed so that each person’s life becomes increasingly like the life of Jesus. (John 8:31-32, Matt. 28:19-20, II Cor. 3:18)
